Greenery and sensory stimulation in care environments
La Muntanyeta is a care centre for people with disabilities, where wellbeing and the quality of the environment play a particularly important role.
The installation of planters with natural greenery throughout the shared areas brings nature closer to residents’ everyday lives while enriching the communal spaces. The greenery adds warmth, softens the visual environment and helps create a calmer and more welcoming atmosphere.
In addition to strengthening the connection with nature, the plants provide visual and sensory stimulation through their colours, shapes, textures and natural changes over time. These elements enrich the environment and offer different ways of perceiving and interacting with the space, adapting to the diverse needs, sensitivities and abilities of its users.
At the same time, the greenery helps create a warmer and more relaxing atmosphere, fostering a sense of calm, comfort and familiarity. In care environments, this natural presence makes shared spaces feel less institutional and more welcoming, creating a more pleasant everyday experience for residents, families and staff.
The project transforms the shared areas into more welcoming, healthier and more comfortable spaces, designed to support the everyday lives of residents, care teams and visitors.
